“American Guns” Returns in Two Weeks

After much controversy, and some speculation, we can announce that the popular Discovery show “American Guns” is returning for season two on April 25th. Many people have wondered if the show was coming back. I have been reassuring them that it was indeed going to have a second season and now it is here.

In late December of last year, we received notice from the producers that they were casting for the second season.  We subsequently posted a notice that the producers were looking for gun enthusiasts to become a part of the new season. You can read that post by clicking here.

Now the hit new reality show about an average family in the Denver area of Colorado, who just happen to own and operate one of the premier gun stores in the country, is starting its second season on a new night, Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 9:00 PM on the Discovery channel.

Rich Wyatt and his wife Renee, own Gunsmoke, located near Golden, Colorado, where they buy, sell and trade guns – from hand cannons to hunting rifles.  And if you don’t see what you want, they’ll build one for you – from nothing more than a block of metal.  Gunsmoke has the largest and most experienced group of gunsmiths in the state.  When the Wyatts aren’t building or selling guns, they’re shooting them.  No gun leaves their shop without being test fired by the family first. They, and the one-of-a-kind and historic guns they make and sell, are featured in the hit series on The Discovery Channel.

And YES, Paige will be back.  For all of you ‘pervs’ who think their 17 year old daughter is hot (well she is), Paige Wyatt is also returning to the show.  I get a lot of people stopping by here just looking for pictures of Paige.  Well, here it is.

If any of you might be wishing that you could be the next custom gun owner – you may still be able to.  The producers are always looking for gun collectors, gun enthusiasts, buyers, sellers and traders of guns to include in the show, if not for this season, then for next.

Gun Control – Do We Really Need It?

I couldn’t believe it the other day when someone whom I thought knew me, asked me, “So how do you feel about Gun Control?  Don’t you think we really need it?”  As if she didn’t know my answer to that!?  Looking back I now think she was just trying to get me going, but that’s OK too.  But as for Gun Control, let me put it this way.  Another great blog that I link to here, Extrano’s Alley, has this prominently displayed on the top of his front page and it pretty much sums it up.

There are more than 22,402 restrictive gun laws in force.  Of those, not even one has ever reduced crime. In fact, crime has increased after each of these laws, and the amount depends on the severity and level of enforcement of the law.

The fact is, (borrowing from the great movie with Humphrey Bogart, “Sierra Madre”) we don’t need no stinking badges – to carry our guns.  I added the last four words, but what I mean is we shouldn’t need no stinking permit to carry a gun, concealed or otherwise.  We shouldn’t have to show good cause to be able carry a gun, concealed or otherwise.  Let’s face it, criminals certainly don’t feel they need a permit to carry a gun when they are a committing a crime.  They’re already breaking the law.  Why should they worry about a stinking gun permit.

We already have the only permit we should ever need in the Second Amendment. Our Founding Fathers gave us the right to carry guns and they recognized that it was a right that should never be taken from us lest we see ourselves as subjects of a tyrannical government.  Our Constitution was written to restrict what Government can do – not restrict what citizens can do.

Just what part of “shall not be infringed” do you not understand?  And yet, every year, legislators devise some new way to infringe upon law abiding gun owners and restrict their gun right.  These same legislators took an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States”.   But with every new Gun Control law they are further destroying the Constitution.  With every new Gun Control law they are violating that sacred oath and deliberately shifting the balance of power into THEIR hands and into the hands of the criminals.

That quote I placed above is probably a little old in that there are many more than 22,402 restrictive gun laws in these United States.  There are more laws every year, especially in California and New York – and Illinois, and Massachusetts, but I digress.  But not one of those Gun Control laws has ever stopped a murder, a burglary, armed robbery, car jacking, sexual assault – again I could go on.

Gun Control laws do absolutely no good to anyone but the criminals, because they actually make their job easier.  They only restrict law abiding citizens from being able to effectively defend themselves from others who have made crime their career choice.

New gun laws do accomplish one thing in that they secure the liberal legislators in their seats.  They appease their liberal base such that they will vote for them next time, confident that the same liberal hacks will continue to support ridiculous Gun Control laws.

I used to think that these new laws they write and pass must at least make them feel good in that they must feel that they have done something positive to protect society and keep them safe.  But any more I can’t believe that they could possibly continue to be that stupid.  When all of the evidence flies in the face of that notion, how can they really believe something so ridiculous?  Gun Control laws actually work to increase crime in every area or state they are tried.  Every large population center that has strict gun control laws, has violent crime that is out of control and on the rise every year.  It has gotten so bad that the crime statistics that they are reporting are deliberately cooked to try and show decreasing crime so they can continue support their absurd notions that Gun Control laws are working.

Gun Control laws are against the law in my opinion as every one of them goes against the Constitution of the United States and the Second Amendment.  Guns should always have a place in our Society or we will cease to be a free people.   The only laws we should even consider might be restricting those who have mental disabilities and violent criminals, although the latter does absolutely no good anyway.  But guns should never be in the hands of the mentally disturbed.  Although, there is another problem, how do you find those people before they commit some insane act?

Other than that, I believe the Gun Control laws we have now should be repealed.  Every law abiding citizen should be required to own a gun and know how to safely use it.  Crime in our country would amazingly become so much more infrequent that news bureaus would have to look other places for their news stories.  Of course they are doing a lot of that now already by making up new false issues in order to further liberal bias.  But that is another rant altogether that perhaps I will have to take on another day.

A society that does not trust its citizens with guns does not trust its citizens.   When citizens live in a society where only the police and military have guns, they are living in a police state  –  Anonymous

Portantino At It Again With AB 1527

California Assemblyman Anthony Portantino (D. – La Cañada) must be really feel emboldened since the passage of his AB 144 last year because he is at again with a new bill that would expand on it.  Open Carry is under attack again with Assembly Bill 1527 which will make it illegal to openly carry long guns in addition handguns as is now because of AB144, and in general, make more changes to California Open Carry Law.

After the passage of AB 144 last year, the South Bay Open Carry organization, which has now morphed into the Responsible Citizens of California, staged a long gun protest to point out the absurdity of the ban on open carry of hand guns.  They met at two locations in California – in Northern and Southern California simultaneously, all carrying rifles to point the fact that carrying long guns is the only way of legal open carry remaining.

But this sort of ‘in your face’ tactic is what got Portantino fired up in the first place after the South Bay Open Carry group kept holding monthly meetings at restaurants in his district.  They would purposely hold their meetings at different restaurants in Portantino’s district to demonstrate their deference to his stated opposition to open carry and intent to pass a law banning it.

I, on the other hand, have never believed that it is a good idea to poke a sleeping bear that could turn around and attack you.  That is just what Portantino did by authoring AB 144 and successfully getting it passed and now again with AB 1527 this year.

Now in response to their ‘long gun protest’ he is at it again with AB 1527 wherein he wants to make it illegal to open carry long guns in addition to handguns.

Of course, both of these bills are illegal themselves as they are blatant infringements of the Second Amendment.  Ultimately they will be overturned in court to satisfy the Second Amendment or at least be the instrument by which we get a more permissive concealed carry law and become a “shall issue” state.  Either way we will prevail in the end.

Liberal gun grabbers in the California legislature will eventually get the message.  Their free run with 2-1 odds in California will end.  Of course, your help is always necessary to let your legislators how wrong this is.  Please call and/or write them to express your opposition.

Maryland Restrictive Concealed Carry Law Ruled Unconstitutional

Maryland’s Concealed Carry Law that requires applicants to submit a “good and substantial reason” along with their application has been ruled Unconstitutional by the U.S. District Court.  According to U.S. District Judge Benson Everette Legg, Maryland’s goal to control the amount of firearms carried by residents is therfore unconstitutional.

Maryland’s law is similar to the California CCW law in that California requires applicants to provide a reason of “good cause” as to why they should be granted a permit to carry a weapon concealed.  With this ruling in Maryland, California may soon be ordered to change their law.

The U.S. District Court upheld that the Second Amendment “right to bear arms is not limited to the home.”   Therefore citizens should not be required to submit a “good and substantial reason” when applying for a concealed carry permit.

Attorney Alan Gura made a statement to the AP for the plaintiff Raymond Woollard saying, “People have the right to carry a gun for self-defense and don’t have to prove that there’s a special reason for them to seek the permit.”

The case of Woollard vs. Sheridan was brought against the state police superintendent and members of the Handgun Permit Review Board for putting the burden of proof on a citizen and wrongly denying Woollard’s application in 2010.  Raymond Woollard had previously obtained a concealed carry permit after a struggle with a thief at his home in 2002.  However, his license renewal application was denied by the state of Maryland because he could not prove he was subject to “threats occurring beyond his residence.”

“A citizen may not be required to offer a ‘good and substantial reason’ why he should be permitted to exercise his rights,” Judge Legg wrote.  “The right’s existence is all the reason he needs.”

We applaud Judge Legg and his decision that upholds the Second Amendment right for law abiding citizens of Maryland, or of any state for that matter, to own and use a handgun in defense of themselves and their family.  Unfortunately, this decision currently only covers Maryland residents, but we stand ready to persevere in our liberal state of California when this comes before justices for ruling here.  This ruling is precedence and can only help to overturn the oppressive laws established by liberals who are only interested in control and who are currently running amuck in our state capitol with almost no opposition.

California’s AB144 which passed last September went into law this past January, virtually disarmed all of us who cannot obtain a CCW permit, by making it illegal to carry a weapon openly.  Open carry had previously been legal since before the State was a State.  And as we know CCW permits are nearly impossible to obtain, except for a few friends of the local sheriffs and politicians.

By making it illegal to open carry a weapon coupled with the restrictive CCW law of the land, California gun law is ripe to be declared “unconstitutional” as the Second Amendment cannot be satisfied.  Therefore, the court can only rule one way and still uphold the Constitution.

Maryland is showing us the way and we are sure to follow.

Ruger SR9 Gun Review

Sometimes you come across something that you just know is right even before you have a chance to hold it or see it up close, as it was for me and the Ruger SR9.  I first saw a television commercial about the Ruger SR9 that intrigued me.  I soon thereafter read some pieces on the gun.  I finally found one in a favorite gun store and I got to handle it.  I knew then that this would be my next handgun.  It wasn’t until almost six months later that I was finally able to take mine home from the gun dealer to enjoy because I still wanted to look at some others.

I looked at a number of guns including, the S&W M&P, Springfield XD, and the Glock.  I have shot Glocks a number of times also, so I am very familiar with them.  Therefore, most of my comparisons in this review will be comparing the SR9 to the Glock 17.

What struck me first about this gun was the ergonomics.  It just seems to feel so right in my hand.  I have a medium size hand and some larger guns can sometimes feel like I have less control.  It has a reversible back strap that once I turned it around to expose the flat side, it fit perfectly in my hand.  And even though the magazine is a double stack magazine, the handle is slightly slimmer than other similar double stack handguns such as the Glock 17.

Another thing that appealed to me is its look.  The SR9 is a sexy looking gun, with its shiny brushed stainless steel slide, softer corners, rounded top on the slide, and the SR9 logo prominently etched on the side of the slide – unlike the Glock which simply looks like a block of steel painted black and some grip serrations cut into the side.  I know the Glock is liked by many, but I also hear from people that say it’s not a sexy looking gun.  After all, it doesn’t need to be if it’s going to be carried by law enforcement on a daily basis.  But the general public wants something that looks cool too, in addition to its prime reason for existence, firing bullets.  But how a gun looks or fits in your hand is not the only criteria by which you should judge it.

When you first get the SR9 home, you open the injection molded carrying case, which is typical for most Rugers, and see that it comes with two magazines and a magazine loading tool.  Standard equipment is two 17 round magazines, which is just like the Glock.  However, some states, such as California, require that it be shipped with 10 round magazines.  Either way, you get two of them.  It also comes with a long bolt padlock, similar to the old style bicycle locks I had when I was a kid.  And of course, there is the Owner’s Manual and other pertinent documentation.

Speaking again to the ergonomics, which is one of the things that first sold me on this gun, the SR9 fits the web of my hand perfectly.  The overall width of the gun is 1.27” wide.  But that measurement is taken at the ambidextrous safety levers – not where you grip the gun.  The width at the thumb/finger channel at the top of the grip is closer to 1.00”.  Lower on the grip where your fingers wrap is 1.18”, making the grip very comfortable even in smaller hands.

As I mentioned above, SR9 has an ambidextrous safety, meaning there is a safety switch lever on both sides.  The safety is conveniently located at the rear of the gun just below the slide making it easy to engage and disengage with your thumb, regardless which hand you shoot with.  The slide lock is on the left side only however.  I like the position of the slide lock as I can reach it easily with my thumb and release the slide, rather than racking the slide and allowing it to spring forward.  I find that method easier, unlike with my 1911 that I have to rack as I can’t easily reach the slide lock.

To hold the gun is one thing.  Now you want to fire it – send some lead down range, so to speak.  But first you need ammunition, so to loading the magazines.  I found that when loading ammunition into the magazines, the magazine loading tool is a handy thing to have.  For some reason, the tension on the magazine spring is substantial, and trying to load those last few rounds into the magazine can be difficult without the tool.  The tool definitely helps.

Slide the mag into the handle grip firmly and you hear a definite click when it is seated.  The magazine seats easily negating the need to slap it hard, but a friendly slap or bump with the palm of your hand wouldn’t hurt.  If the slide is locked back, you need only to release the slide lock with your thumb which will seat a round into the chamber.  If the slide is at rest in the firing position, you will need to rack the slide, as with any semi-auto, to charge a round into the firing chamber, which brings us to another minor concern.

The tension of the recoil spring in the slide is pretty strong.  My girlfriend has some problem with pulling the slide back.  But then she can’t rack my 1911 at all, unless the hammer is cocked.

The angled serrations on the slide are deep and sharply cut.  After a while I see a slight build up of dirt and skin in the grooves.  But at least you know you won’t slip your grip.  Rack the slide, seat a round and you are ready to go.  If you are not going to fire the pistol immediately, push the Manual Safety up with your thumb, and acquire your site of the target.  The Manual Safety can only be engaged when the gun is “cocked”, which in the case of the SR9 is really only “half cocked”, as I will describe below.

Acquiring your site is easily done with the three dot adjustable sites. Of the three dots, the front site is the largest allowing you to put your focus where it should be – at the front on the target.  Actually, when the site is properly aligned, all three dots will appear to be the same size because of distance from the rear dots.  The rear site is adjustable for elevation and windage.  The front site can be adjusted for windage only.  Out of the box, I found the sites to be right on for 7 – 10 yards, eliminating any need for me to adjust the sites.

Firing the SR9 will require that you release the ambidextrous safety and depress the Trigger Safety to squeeze the trigger.  Squeezing the trigger fully cocks the striker, and ultimately releases the striker, causing the firing pin to strike the ammunition, thereby firing the gun.  This cannot be done if the Manual Safety is engaged.  What is more, the trigger will only travel back when the Trigger Safety is depressed.  This Trigger Safety system was something that came about in response to a brief recall on the pistols that was in October and April of 2008 to fix a drop issue.  It actually resembles the trigger safety on the Glock.

The SR9 is considered to be a double action pistol, unlike the 1911 and other hammer fired pistols which are single action.  As I mentioned above, squeezing the trigger is what completes the cocking action started by the slide racking.  Racking the slide either with your hand or through firing the pistol resets the trigger system.  The striker still needs to be cocked and pulled back by the action of pulling the trigger.  Therefore, there is a approximately 3/8 of an inch in take up before the trigger breaks and fires the gun.  The trigger pull is relatively light for a double action pistol at 5.2 pounds.  Accurate rapid fire is no problem with this pistol.

I have actually had my SR9 for several months now.  I wanted to run a few thousand rounds through the gun before I wrote about it.  I’ve actually put about 2800 rounds through the gun and in that time, I have not experienced even one jam, malfunction or stove pipe.  I can’t say that about the Glocks I have fired.  Twice in shooting Glocks I have gotten a ‘stovepipe’ requiring me to clear the gun before it would fire again, and two misfires.  The misfires could have been faulty ammunition though, but could also be the striker.  I did not own the Glocks so I really didn’t know the last time they had been cleaned or what abuse they may have seen.  So far though, my SR9 has performed flawlessly.  I have cleaned the gun four times in this period which also speaks to the fact that cleaning after every shooting event is just not necessary to keep it happy, although a reasonable amount of cleaning is good for any gun.  Looking at mine now, it could probably stand to be cleaned again.

Another safety feature of the SR9 is the Loaded Chamber Indicator.  When a round is in the firing chamber, a lever pops up on top of the slide with red paint each side and the words “LOADED WHEN UP”.  This little feature is even detectable in the dark since you can feel it’s presence in the dark, when you can’t otherwise see it.

Field stripping the SR9 is fairly easy.  To begin you need to remove the magazine, and lock the slide back.  At this point you can either reach inside and press the ejector down or pull the trigger.  Press the take down pin on the right side of the gun above the trigger guard and pull it out on from the left side.  The slide will now pull forward and off the polymer frame.  Take the recoil spring and rod out of the slide and this will enable you to remove the barrel.  The gun is now disassembled for cleaning.

Impressions:

As I stated above, I have fired somewhere in the range of 2800 rounds through this perky little gun using many different kinds of ammo, and so far I love it.  I say ‘little’ but this is a full size gun and I have shot several different brands of new American ammo, foreign ammo and reloads and so far not one jam.  A lot of people I know shoot Glocks and they say they think the Ruger SR9 is sub-par.  On the other hand, I see them having feed issues, stovepipes and other misfires such that they have to tap and rack to get to the next round.  I have even had them myself on the Glock and I have not shot Glocks nearly as much as I have my SR9.

The SR9 is a full size gun that fits nicely in my hand.  It is comfortable to handle and comfortable to shoot.  First time out of the box I cleaned a good size hole out of the ten spot on a target at 7 yards so I find it exceptionally accurate.  At 26.2 ounces, it’s not as light as the Glock but I still find it comfortable to carry all day.

I do have one minor complaint in that the magazine release on mine sometimes seems a little hard to activate.  Other guns, including my 1911 release very easily.  This could be a problem if you were to use this in competition or even need it in an actual gun fight when your life is depending on it.  I am thinking of taking it in to my favorite gunsmith and having him look at it.  What is odd is that is not difficult all the time, especially when the slide is locked back.

Overall though, I would recommend this saucy gun to anyone who is looking for a reliable 9MM.  The Ruger SR9 is certainly one of the more newsworthy additions to the polymer frame, striker fired, service pistol line that is of significant value.  If sales are any indication, this is a popular gun.  I have sometimes had a hard time finding it in stock in the stainless steel option at some gun stores.  Gallery of Guns has even had it on allocation until just recently.  It could be that Ruger is picking up production because lately it has become a little easier to find.

Check one out the next time you’re in your favorite gun shop. I think you’ll like it.

More Women are Embracing Gun Ownership

In our previous article, Gun Sales at Record Levels This December, we noted how much gun sales have increased this year.  But wasn’t mentioned in that piece was how many of those new guns are going to women.  The percentage of guns going to women is growing.  What used to be considered mainly a men’s sport is becoming coed – especially in the competition sports.

According to a recent Gallop poll, 43 percent of women now have at least one gun at home, which is up 19 percent from the previous year.  Women are gaining on men in the purchase of firearms for both hunting and personal defense, according to several reports as well as the NRA.  Thousands of women are learning how to shoot, and learning how to take responsibility for their own personal defense.  Last month, a Sheriff from South Carolina held a press conference wherein he adamantly encouraged women to obtain and carry concealed weapons.

Take for example, the following video produced by a gun training academy in Texas.  It promotes what they can do for women who want to be able to defend themselves.

According to one local gun range instructor, “Interest has been so high that we have started holding women only classes”, in response to the increased interest by women.  And according to the NRA, their Women on Target program has seen a 20% increase in clinic attendance since 2010.

One woman who is an avid shooter but also happens to be a Yoga instructor put it like this, “Yoga’s Zen-like quality can be applied to shooting guns in a lot of ways.  Shooting guns takes focus, concentration, and it doesn’t always have to be about violence.”  She added, “When I cook, I use a chef’s knife.  You have respect for a knife as a tool that you use in your craft.  And I think guns can be used in the same way.”

The target shooting industry is now catering to female shooters.  There are pink pistols, and even purses with holster slots. Some local IDPA and USPSA chapters have even added women’s divisions to their competitions.  IDPA competitions especially, help to teach proficiency in self defense techniques in more real life situations.  They help to provide women with a venue to practice their skills to better be able to defend themselves.

As a blogger myself, I am finding more and more women who have their own blogs about guns and shooting sports. Here are just a few:

So here is a tip of the ol’ Stetson women.  Here’s to you.  Keep shootin’ and remember, more guns means less crime.

Gun Sales At Record Levels This December

Remember Ralphie from the classic movie “A Christmas Story”?  Well I guess all of the Ralphies of years past have grown up and are still wishing for fire power, only now it’s the real kind.  According to the FBI who runs the background checks for gun sales, December 2011 is proving to be the busiest month for gun sales ever.  Apparently electronic toys and gadgetry is not the only thing topping Christmas Wish Lists because Holiday shoppers are also flocking to gun dealers and purchasing guns in record numbers.

FBI statistics show that this December Holiday shopping season is topping the last record setting month which was only last month – November.  With only a few days left in December, the number of background checks has already topped last month.  The NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) has received 1,534,414 requests from gun dealers in order to complete gun sales across the United States.  Almost half a million checks were performed in the last six days before Christmas.

Two days before Christmas, the NICS ran 102,222 background checks, which was the second-busiest day in history.  The one-day record was set this year on Black Friday, the shopping day following Thanksgiving this year, with 129,166 searches.  By comparison, the previous one-day high was set November 28, 2008, when gun dealers made slightly more than 98,000 requests for background checks.

I know that I was one of the half million and probably part of the one day record, as I caused one of the checks when I purchased a shiny new, stainless steel, Smith & Wesson, 1911 to add to my own collection.  Unfortunately, since I live on the ‘left coast’ I was unable to take mine home before Christmas because of the 10 day waiting period we must endure, thanks to the “well meaning” liberals (sarcasm intended) in charge of our government.  It’s amazing just how long ten days can seem when you’re waiting to bring home a new member to your family.  Oh well, it’s just extending Christmas for me.

The FBI had no explanation for the sudden jump in gun purchases but it’s easy to surmise that more and more people are feeling the need to be in charge of their own self protection and are thereby exercising their Second Amendment rights.  Every day the main stream media features news stories of people who have become victims because of their inability to provide for their own defense.  While the intent of news organizations is to show guns in a bad light, people are realizing their importance as a tool to have in their possession.  Afterall, the police and the news reporters only show up after you become a victim.

And with the Governor of our state opening up the prisons because of supposed “overcrowding”, it is becoming more and more important to be able to defend your family.  Our “wise” judges have ordered a reduction in the prison populations saying that the overcrowding must be reduced.  Of course, the liberal Governor is jumping on the idea of releasing criminals instead of fighting to build more facilities.  Frankly, I don’t see why we can’t erect some tents to house those who choose crime as a career choice.  It seems to work fine in Arizona.

Happy New Year Gun Enthusiasts, and remember – More Guns, means Less Crime.

Barbara Boxer Says Republicans Want To Kill People

In a press conference Tuesday, Barbara Boxer claimed that by attaching an Oil Pipeline bill to the Tax Cut Extension bill that Obama wants, Republicans are going to be responsible for more than 8,000 people dying as a result, and they want this as a Christmas present to the people.

An article reporting on this in The Hill.com said that she claims that people would “die from breathing in too much poison in the form of mercury, lead, and arsenic”, as a result of this attachment to the bill.

ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?! I want to ask, “Is she really that stupid?”  But that is rhetorical, since I know she is.  The problem is that, since I also know she can’t think for herself, so she is obviously repeating clap trap from the Democrat leadership.  I really wish that I could reach out and strangle the people that voted for this idiot to be re-elected, and the slap them and tell them to wise up.

Liberals tell us that we need to kinder and gentler in our criticisms and comments to the media and yet they are out there spewing garbage like this.  It gets picked by the liberal media and made to look like Republicans are dumb shits when all you really need to do is look at the source of the comment for stupidity.

How many people have you killed Mrs. Boxer with all of your abortion legislation, or gun control bills that victimize people and keep them from being able to defend themselves?

When it really comes down to it, America needs the Keystone XL oil pipeline which is supposed to go from Canada to Texas.  We need it because all sources of energy in this country need to be expanded to lower our dependence on foreign oil and produce cheaper oil from our own continent.

But liberals fight it at every turn and the stand up and say we need to explore ‘alternative energy’ as our new energy frontier.  What, like Solyndra?  Green energy programs are repeatedly turning up as expensive failures.  Alternative fuels such as ethanol cause food shortages and drive up the cost of food to poor people, the very people the Democrats claim to be protecting.

This country is killing itself on Liberal ideas and Democrat legislation.  We are going to politically correct ourselves into socialism and the ultimate death of American Exceptionalism if we don’t turn things around.  People – please wake up.

Rick Perry Wants to Get Serious on Insider Trading

Following is an article by Governor Rick Perry of Texas, who is currently a candidate running for President of the United States.  In the article he makes some points that not only make a lot of sense but should be read and understood by all Americans who plan to vote in November.  While I am not necessarily endorsing Governor Perry at this time, I would certainly vote for him if he becomes the Republican nominee.

The current field of Republican candidates has several fine candidates that would make a fine President and I am still analyzing each of their attributes.  As such have not decided on one whom I would like to be the nominee. I only know that I definitely do not want Mitt Romney.  We don’t need a middle of the road RINO who is willing to kiss liberals butts to get legislation that will only compromise our values, passed through Congress.

Rick Perry’s plan is proposing to establish a “part time” congress to bring it back in line with the fundamental tenets of our founding fathers who believed that elected congressmen and senators should come out of the working class and return there after their term in Congress.  The full time professional legislators we now have become entrenched in the trappings of power and money that influences voting and their mindset.

Read now an alternative idea proposed by a fine American; Governor Rick Perry:

Time To Get Serious About Insider Trading in Washington

by Governor Rick Perry (R-Tx)

Congress is finally feeling the pressure over insider trading, the practice of trading financial securities based on non-public information available to a select few in government.

After a series of investigative reports, including several here at Big Government, the American people are beginning to realize that what is wrong with this country can be diagrammed on a map, with a straight line connecting Wall Street and Washington, D.C.

Now exposed to the light of day, the political establishment is determined to show the American people it is “doing something” to clean up its act.

This week, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on the matter, taking what many observers saw as great pains to minimize perceptions of a systemic and bipartisan problem.  But I remain skeptical, as do many Americans, that Congress will actually pass a bill with teeth that requires them to live by the same rules as the rest of us.

The fact is, things will never change as long as the same Washington insiders remain in control.  Washington is broken and needs a complete overhaul, but establishment politicians only want to tinker at the margins.  This is why we can’t ask a Washington insider to fix Washington, because it takes an outsider to overhaul a corrupt culture.

RNC Says Don’t Attack Obama

In a conference call with the Republican National Committee (RNC) and Republican strategists, the RNC said that “party surrogates should refrain from personal attacks against President Barack Obama, because such strategy is too hazardous for the GOP.”  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  OMG!!  That is exactly what every Republican candidate needs to do every day and ramp it up with every speech and press conference.

A story by Yahoo News claims that Republican strategists were warned that too heavy of an attack on Obama could turn voters away.  The story claims that recent polling indicates that voters “feel sorry” for the President and they still give him “high approval”, in spite of record low ratings on his job approval.  Hell, I feel sorry that this country could ever be so gullible to elect such an idiot.  I also understand that Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk show host, just about went ballistic when he heard about this coming out of the RNC.

Apparently the RNC feels that it is OK to vilify and attack fellow Republican candidates with slurs and name calling but ‘don’t go after the President’.  We hear other Republicans say that Bachman is stupid, Cain is a sex offender, Gingrich has had failed marriages and is tied to Fanny Mae, Rick Perry is stupid and look what he did with vaccinations, and so on. But don’t go after Obama because we want to prove to the independents that we are not confrontational, or mean spirited.

BULL SHIT!  The Democrats don’t waste any time going after our guys with both barrels.  Look what they did in 2008 when they put out a bogus story about McCain having an affair.  They don’t just attack; they make it up and lie about it too.  I also believe that it is Democrats, perhaps even the Presidential election committee, that is making up these stories about Cain’s sexual indiscretions.  Afterall, Obama doesn’t want another black running against him.  That way he won’t be able to use the “race card” as he will no doubt do if the candidate is white.

One of the reasons that Gingrich is moving ahead in the polls now is because he is out there with his attacks on Obama. Gingrich is taking it to him and the people want that.  When Trump was vocal about his criticisms of Obama he soared to the top of the polling because he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind.

Our candidates need to put Obama’s feet to the fire on every bit of his failed attempts to bring this country out of recession.  Every scheme, bill or executive order has not only failed but worked to put this country further behind, further in debt, and further down in world opinion.  Right now his job approval rating is lower than Jimmy Carter’s numbers at this same point in his administration.  And just like Carter, Obama is making this country a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

This country cannot afford another Obama term in office.  With another term, he will no longer have to worry about getting re-elected and the gloves will be off.  No socialistic program will be off limits to him.  What’s more, Obama has been treading lightly gun control legislation in this first term, but with no worries about re-election, every gun control bill the liberals and Obama can think of will come out of the woodwork.

The RNC is so wrong.  The candidate that is the most vocal about Obama’s failures and attacks him at every turn is the one who will ultimately become the Republican candidate and go on to beat Obama next November.  The future of this country depends on it.
